Commissioner – Prevention And Community Based Services

Sandwell Councils Adult Social Care Commissioning Team are looking to recruit an experienced commissioner or individual with experience of commissioning Customer Focussed Prevention and/or Community Based Services, to complement our existing team. 

The successful candidate will be accountable for commissioning a wide range of Prevention and CommunityBased Services commissioned through both contracts and grants. There will be the opportunity to work on our statutory contracts and get involved in our Co-production approach across Adult Social Care. The post holder will also have responsibility reviewing and commissioning our Community Based mental health services. 

In addition, as part of a wide-ranging commissioning team there will also be plenty of opportunity to share your skills and experience by getting involved in other areas of our work including Supported Living, Working age residential and nursing, transformation of day services to day opportunities as well as supporting the internal and external providers by developing initiatives to support recruitment and retention within their workforce to mention just a few.

The successful candidate, as with the rest of the Commissioning Team, will be responsible for shaping and transforming the future of local markets and developing positive working relationships with providers this will include facilitating provider forums and co-designing, co-commissioning and co-reviewing services with people who draw upon adult social care services.

You will also be expected achieve positive outcomes and promote a culture of Inclusivity for Sandwell residents and contribute to meeting the Councils vision. 

On a practical level you will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of commissioning high quality, cost effective and joined up services. You will also have a demonstrable awareness of the latest policy and guidance surrounding health and adult social care and clear understanding of safeguarding for both Adults and Children & Young People. The successful candidate must also have a strong understanding and experience of applying data driven commissioning.
