Commissioning Engineer

Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the Commissioning Engineer is responsible for ensuring all site testing, commissioning and installation activities are carried out to the highest standards of Health, Safety and Quality and in a manner that safeguards the Environment.
This includes maintaining compliance with GE Grid and their clients policies and procedures, in addition to UK and international regulation.

• To ensure all site commissioning and installation activities are carried out to the highest standards of Health, Safety and Quality and in a manner that safeguards the environment.
• To ensure that all site commissioning activities are undertaken in full compliance with GE Grid and client policies and procedures, in addition to the UK and international legislation.
• To test, commission and service installed primary and secondary equipment during construction and in-service substation operations.
• To effectively execute projects in line with client and GE expectations, programmes and budgets.
• To ensure accurate on-site test records, reports and quality documentation are created, maintained and circulated in accordance with GE internal governance and GE quality plans.
• To effectively work alongside other assigned staff as part of a team to successfully deliver projects.
• Able to travel throughout UK and globally as and when required.
• Able to work on offshore windfarms.

O p e ra t i o n s :

• Promotes safe working practices and continual improvement in site safely culture.
• Responsible for the effective and efficient testing and commissioning of substation equipment ensuring that agreed work is carried out in accordance with the pre-set time scales and budgets.
• Responsible for the execution of day-to-day commissioning activities to successfully achieve on time delivery of assigned projects.
• Responsible for the preparation, creation and issue of site documentation including but not limited to RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement), NCR's (Non-conformance Report), TQ's (Technical Queries) in accordance with approved processes and procedures.
• Communicating site non-compliances and or deviations to the Site Manager & Project Engineer.
• Reports to the Site Manager / Project Manager and Commissioning Manager.
• Enacting the role of LV Authorised Person in accordance with requirements of the GE LV Safe System of Work (LVSSOW) procedures.
