Job Introduction

Role Purpose

BCP Council Adult Social Commissioning for Disabilities is seeking a highly motivated Commissioning Manager to join their team.

This post is one of two Commissioning Managers who will be working to support the commissioning requirements of people with care and support needs that primarily focus on mental health, learning disabilities and autism. Ranging from low level support in the community to people with complex care and support needs.

Main Responsibilities

The team are responsible for commissioning a broad range of services from residential and supported living to day opportunities, housing related support, community-based services and advocacy.

The Commissioning Managers will own and lead strategic areas of responsibility whilst picking up key projects each year to further the development of services against needs and demand. There will be opportunities to work with both our Local Authority Trading Company and with our diverse provider market to ensure it is sustainable and value for money moving forward.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be educated to a degree level or have significant experience in the commissioning field. Have experience in one or more of the primary support needs detailed in this advert. Have a passion for partnership working and co-production and ideally, a good level of experience working directly with providers in relevant markets to achieve sustainable, outcome based, value for money services.

This post has management responsibility so relevant experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

You will be working in a supportive management and learning environment. There will be opportunities to attend wider meetings, webinars and training to further develop your knowledge and skills in the commissioning and social care sector.

Our team are driving forward the personalisation agenda with a view to more place-based commissioning and increasing choice and control through Individual Service Funds. If you share our excitement in taking forward a strength-based approach to commissioning and championing the rights of people to be fully involved and supported within their own communities, then we would love you to be a part of our team.

If you would like to learn more about the role, please contact Siobain.hann@bcpcouncil.gov.uk - Head of Strategic Commissioning for Disabilities for an informal discussion.
