This vacancy has arisen due to the current post holder being successful in obtaining an internal secondment. Therefore this vacancy is being offered as a 12 month secondment / fixed term appointment.
As a Commissioning Officer within the Resettlement Team, you will play a key role within housing and homelessness, ensuring that strong partnerships continue and develop with the 8 district and borough councils, work closely with housing associations and internal colleagues.
The role combines strategic overview and project work, ranging from developing new initiatives to interpreting legislation and policies to inform commissioning intentions.
You will work as part of the wider Resettlement Team supporting research and digital ESOL provision and with a range of external partners.
Developing information sharing agreements to assist with the collation of data, to better inform early identification of issues around housing for the Supporting Families programme.
Working closely with the placements team to understand the pressures and issues around the availability of suitable accommodation and working with partners to develop solutions.
Please note that the team uses hybrid working i.e., team members work from home but attend meetings face-to-face as and when required to meet business need (the office base is Stafford).
Main ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will:
- Co-ordinate the Staffordshire Housing Partnership and sub-groups
- Work collaboratively with DHLUC to improve issues around housing and homelessness
- Develop partnership protocols with internal and external partners and ensure they are embedded in practice
- Keep abreast of relevant legislation and assess the impact upon our services
- Identify gaps in provision and develop initiatives to bridge those gaps
The ideal candidate will be a team player; yet able to work on their own initiative.
Experience of successful partnership working is important as is excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
Excellent communication skills are crucial to this role as is a focus on and commitment to 'Outcomes'.
