The Marketing and Communication team at Ipswich Borough Council is committed to communicating effectively and efficiently with all the council’s stakeholders, both internally and externally.

We offer a wide range of facilities and activities that support our residents, local businesses, staff, Elected Members, and partners and we need to be the driving force for change by offering clear, accurate messages that delivers purpose and direction.

The main purpose of the Communications and Press Officer Job is to develop and implement internal and external communication campaigns. This includes issuing press releases, working with media partners and ensuring high levels of employee and resident engagement, and that the council has a positive reputation locally and regionally.

This goes beyond ‘a press release’ this is delivering short and long-term communication campaigns that change behaviours and influence how people engage with the council.

This is an incredible exciting role, with the successful candidate being part of significant projects around Ipswich.

This role is 37 hours per week, but attending events to collect content is required- this will include evenings and occasional weekends. Working hours will be flexible to allow for later starts/early finishes to accommodate.

The selection process will be a 2-stage interview process with a presentation delivered at stage 1. Interviews will be in person at Grafton House, Ipswich.
