Our Communications Team is well established and respected by officers, members and partners alike. However, the context in which the council is operating is becoming increasingly complex. From a communications perspective, this means dealing with the decline of traditional media, the rise and fragmentation of new digital channels, and related challenges of engaging our communities and getting messages heard. Furthermore, the council is looking to be more on the front foot regarding the use of external and internal campaigns to address our strategic challenges and achieve our goals.
As Communications Manager, you will have the drive and expertise required to work with councillors, the Corporate Management Team, our partners and our community to take us on the next steps of our journey. You will be responsible for the leadership, management, development and delivery of the council’s internal and external communications, marketing, engagement, consultation, research, events and print and design services. But your influence will be far greater, making a real impact corporately and within our communities.
You will be:
- an energetic, agile and responsive leader, able to work collaboratively with staff, members and stakeholders across the full range of council interests
- passionate about the work of councils and the role of local democracy
- able to demonstrate a track record of delivery in the field of communications, consultations, campaigns, events and reputational management
- someone with an existing track record of driving continuous improvement in performance and culture, delivering new solutions and approaches within a complex environment
