Purpose of the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and versatile Communications Manager to join the Hertfordshire LEP team. Working across a number of brands, the post-holder will oversee day to day communications and proactively seek out PR opportunities to maximise the LEP's profile across a number of channels.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is seeking to further their career across private/public sector communications and take on new responsibilities. No two days will be the same, with the role covering corporate communications and tailored communications for the LEP's various skills and business support brands. The post-holder will be the key point of contact for communications related queries and requests from the LEP Executive Team, Board, sub-brands, stakeholders/partners, and the media. Day to day responsibilities will include managing and writing all news content including press releases; managing stakeholder engagement; setting and implementing social media strategies; managing the LEP website; and working closely with the delivery teams for LEP brands.

Essential skills, knowledge & experience required:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in communications or public relations with a focus on new content creation, strategic planning and responding in a fast-paced business
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop compelling copy tailored to a range of digital and traditional communications channels and audiences
- Ability to create branded creative assets including social media cards and posters
- Experience and strong understanding of brand and website development
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities, evidenced at senior leadership levels
- Excellent digital literacy and IT skills
- Confident using digital communications tools (email marketing tools e.g. Campaign Monitor; social media marketing tools e.g. Zoho Social; online graphic design tools e.g. Canva), social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram), website CMS (Umbraco, WordPress, Squarespace), and MS Office Suite.
- Strong project management, planning, organisation and prioritisation skills, working across multiple brands and delivery teams
- Ability to develop and deliver strategic communications and marketing plans
- A strong eye for detail and creative mindset
Desirable skills, knowledge & experience required:
- Experience using Google Analytics and SEO tools
- Experience commissioning and working with creative and media agencies
- Good photography and photo editing skills
- Knowledge or interest in Hertfordshire's economic landscape
