Job description

Learning Partnerships is a highly recognised, successful Leeds based charity with over 30 years of experience working in deprived areas of the city to provide opportunities and support for children, young people and adults to access education, employment, training and volunteering.

We have been successful in gaining funding to continue our Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) project in the Harehills area of Leeds.

We are currently seeking to appoint a:

COMMUNITY BUILDER

21 hours per week

Full Time Salary: £24,000

 (Actual salary £14,400 per annum)

Funded for 1 Year initially

As a Community Builder, through the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) project, you will work with the local community, businesses, stakeholders and partners in selected areas of Harehills. The Community Builder will identify, and work with the community to bring about the changes they want to see and will focus on engaging the skills, knowledge and talent of local residents through positive relationship building. This will identify, engage and motivate volunteer connectors from the local community (Community Connectors) who will lead positive change.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic member of staff to work as part of a team 

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Identify and bring together Community Connector volunteers in Harehills. These are the people who may live in the area or have strong links with residents of the area. 
  • Develop excellent relationships with local people, businesses, stakeholders and partners and build links to raise awareness of the ABCD approach.
  • Work with the local community to create opportunities where people can come together to share their thoughts and ideas. 
  • Work independently and as part of a team working alongside other Learning Partnerships projects.
