Contract Type: Full time 1 FTE (35 hours per week) for a fixed term of 1 year (sabbatical cover) Location: Charing Cross Hospital Campus, Hammersmith and White City Campus Job Summary The Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit is seeking to appoint cover to a one-year sabbatical post from August 2024. The principal purpose of the post is to strengthen the interface between the Primary Care curriculum and local communities in London. The post holder will work to consolidate and identify new opportunities with community organisations for student placements, explore ways students can work collaboratively in these community settings and work with placement leads to include local perspectives within curriculum content and assessment. The Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit is a large, busy award-winning educational unit overseeing several primary care placements in the undergraduate medical degree. The Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit aims to provide medical students with educational experiences that enable them to be socially accountable change agents that positively impact society, developing future doctors who have an understanding of the biomedical and sociocultural aspects of medicine and the priorities and assets of local communities. Duties and Responsibilities You will work closely with all our Undergraduate Primary Care Education Placement Leads, looking in detail at existing primary care placements in Phase 1 and Phase 3 to consolidate, identify and implement new opportunities to collaborate with community organisations and include local perspectives within curriculum content and assessment. The post holder will explore opportunities to promote our work in relevant workshops, conferences and publications. The Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit is also involved in a number of school outreach projects and the post holder will work with relevant leads to build and expand these projects, linking with widening participation initiatives across College and externally. Essential Criteria Undergraduate degree or other qualification relevant to this role Significant understanding of community healthcare Experience in collaboration with community organisations Effective team working and leadership skills Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively with community members and community organisations Ability to communicate effectively with members of the Department, College and other relevant external stakeholders Evidence of effective personal time management Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Ability to contribute to curriculum development Willingness to be flexible and strategic Commitment to Primary care as a focus and setting for undergraduate learning Willingness to engage with relevant learning and development activity as relevant to the role Further Information This post is full time, fixed term for 1 year and you will be based at Charing Cross Hospital Campus, Hammersmith, and White City Campus.
