Job description

Community Engagement

Regular attendance at engagement events and venues to help encourage participation in the Gazebo Community Hub and activities.

Organising and co-delivery of engagement events and activities.

Developing marketing and communications strategies with the Marketing and Communications Officer to support engagement.

Developing links with external agencies, organisations and venues.

Undertaking initial sign ups to Gazebo programmes of work including helping to determine barriers, needs and aspirations of individuals and undertaking “handover” to keyworkers where appropriate.

Supporting Delivery

Supporting delivery within the Community Hub and across the organisation, to encourage attendance, through building trust and communication with individuals.

Assistance at a range of co-designed group social events, activities and skills development, which could include furniture upcycling, sports, cooking, drama based activities, gardening, decorating, media production, arts and crafts and music, for example.

Supporting the co-planning of social trips with participants, including facilitatingfuture independent trips, through supporting the development of confidence, and communication with external organisations and venues.

Engagement and development of volunteering opportunities

Assisting with the development of volunteering opportunities and projects.

Engagement with external organisations, to support development of volunteering and work experience placements for participants.

Liaison with external organisations, including but not limited to Job Centre, community centres, training providers, cultural organisations, Voluntary and Community Sector organisations and educational establishments to develop opportunities and partnerships.

Attendance at events to represent Gazebo.

Co-design and Co-production

Undertaking co-design, planning and co-production activities with the local community.

Supporting the development of new initiatives to support identified local community needs- eg digital inclusion, cost of living crisis support.

Administrative / Financial

Follow company finance processes, in relation to spend, receipts and reporting.

Follow all brand guidelines in relation to any printed materials, emails, etc.

Follow company policies around data protection ensuring GDPR compliance.

Completion of risk assessments, where required.

Facilities and Resources

Set up and tidying up of hub area, ensuring maintained in a safe and appropriate manner.

To be jointly responsible for the premises, equipment, and other resources of the company, ensuring appropriate maintenance and use.

To comply with the company’s Health & Safety policies.

General

To attend such training courses, events and meetings, as are necessary to fulfil the obligations of the post, as agreed with the Project Lead.

To comply with all Company Policies.

Develop an understanding of Gazebo’s vision, values and brand.

To act at all times in the best interests of the Company, acting as an ambassador for Gazebo.

To undertake and assist in other areas of the organisation’s work that may lie outside these principal functions.

Monitoring, evaluation and reporting

Supporting participants to complete surveys as part of the wider evaluation of the programme.

Maintaining records

Completion of regular reports.

Gathering feedback, and undertaking evaluation to ensure effective delivery of activities.

Person Specification- Skills & Experience

Ideal

Significant experience undertaking Community Engagement.

Experience working with people in both one to one and group settings.

The ability to undertake co-design, co-production and creative consultation with the community, to inform delivery.

Ability to plan and co-deliver events and activities.

Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Ability to complete paperwork and maintain records effectively.

An understanding of the value of creativity.

Desirable

Experience of working in the arts, heritage or voluntary and community sector.

Experience of providing Information, Advice and Guidance, key working, mentoring or coaching.

Social media, marketing and communications skills.

Knowledge of the voluntary and community sector.

High level of self-motivation

Probationary period: Six months during which time the notice period is one week. After confirmation of appointment, notice period increases to one month.


Working Hours: This is a full time post working 37 hours per week, generally between
9.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday, some out of hours work may be
required to meet the needs of the post and the community. We operate a
flexible working policy.


Overtime: We operate a TOIL (time off in lieu) policy for any hours worked in excess
of weekly hours, which must be agreed in advance with Line
Manager. We do not pay overtime.


Pension: Auto-enrolment with Gazebo currently making 3% employer contributions,
which will rise in line with legal requirements. Gazebo's appointed
pension provider is People’s Pension. Further details are available, and
employees can choose to opt out.


Holidays: 25 days per year plus Bank Holidays


Location: It is our preference that the Engagement Worker lives within easy
commuting distance of Bilston, Wolverhampton.
