Lakelands Day Care Hospice is looking for a talented and proactive Community Fundraiser who has experience of running small and medium scale events as well as a passion for Schools based fundraising and promoting adrenaline challenges.  The ideal candidate will have lots of fresh new ideas to get our charity's name out there within the borough of Corby.

Job Description

Job Title:                                          Community Fundraiser

                                                            (40 hours per week)

Salary:                                                £25,500 - 27,500K

Job description:                             The postholder will be responsible for co-ordinating all fundraising within the described area of activity using agreed strategies and plans.                                    

Reporting to:                                   Head of Fundraising

Areas of Activity:                            The postholder will be responsible for raising agreed funds through the organisation and management of community appeals, events and other fundraising initiatives throughout North Northamptonshire.

KEY TASKS

The key responsibilities of the postholder are summarised as follows:-

·         To develop  and implement a community fundraising strategy to include small to medium sized fundraising events, community appeals and initiatives.

·         To seek initial approval of the community strategy from the Head of Fundraising to ensure co-ordination within the fundraising department.

·         To agree the detail of all project plans, including budgets and costings with the Head of Fundraising and set in place adequate controls to monitor progress.  This will typically involve progress reports and meetings.

·         To liaise with the Head of Fundraising where event/campaign sponsorship is required to ensure a co-ordinated approach.

·         To ensure that all community initiatives & Events organised through the fundraising department meet the required Health and Safety legislation at all times.   

·         To compile all relevant community literature for printing and distribution following approval from the Head of Fundraising.

·         To undertake marketing of community initiatives and inform the Head of Fundraising of the promotion of events/appeals/initiatives through the media and other channels, ensuring co-ordination with other members of the Lakelands team.

·         To generate new interest by means other than events and appeals, ie. networking through community groups and organisations by giving talks and presentations.

·         To manage and attend cheque presentations when requested.  In your absence to ensure that another representative or trained volunteer attends.

·         To attend events organised by the community when required.

·         To assist Hospice with extra funding for “special events” e.g. external trips, etc.

·         To support Community Volunteers with the assistance of the Volunteer Coordiantor.

·         To participate as a team member at centrally organised events e.g. volunteer and patient parties.

·         To produce a monthly fundraising report to be submitted to the Fundraising Manager.

·         To work with schools and youth organisations to develop this and income stream.

·         To manage our relationships with groups such as the WI, U3A, The Lions, The Cadets and Rotary.

·         To plan and coordinate our store collections with volunteer support.

·         To oversee the static yellow box collecting tins in the community and ensure that these are logged correctly and that a volunteer is collecting them on rotation.

·         To support individuals and groups in the community who wish to run their own fundraising events.

·         To organise and oversee all our active challenge events.

·         To ensure that leads enquiries and contacts in relation to corporate, legacy, grants / trusts, that fall outside the community remit are passed to the appropriate member of the fundraising department.

·         To proactively support the development of the Lakelands database.

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

·           Previous fundraising experience (1/2 yrs).

-           Good IT knowledge

·           Experience of organising fundraising events, appeals and initiatives (1/2 yrs).

·           Full, clean driving license and own transport.

·           Ability to reach and exceed targets.

·           Pleasant and courteous manner.

·           Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

 

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

·           To organise community appeals/events and introduce new fundraising initiatives.

·           To support a network of fundraising volunteers.

·           To raise funds at an annualised agreed sum within the North Northamptonshire area.

·           To ensure the success of appeals/events and initiatives, not only in terms of income, but also in the professionalism of the organisation, thus promoting the good name of Lakelands Hospice.

·           Objectives will be reviewed annually in line with the changing needs of the charity.
