Job description

Position: Community Link Worker
Project/Department: Southend-On-Sea
Accountable To: Service Manager
Our client is currently seeking a dedicated and motivated individual for the position of Community Link Worker. As a Community Link Worker, you will play a vital role in promoting social inclusion by assisting service users in identifying and achieving their goals. This involves providing a range of community-based groups/sessions and facilitating access to various activities within the wider community.
Key Responsibilities:
1.In collaboration with the Team Leader, develop and support purposeful, enjoyable, and interesting social activities relevant to the needs of individuals experiencing mental health problems.
2.Directly run, manage, or supervise groups or activities as appropriate.
3.Effectively manage a service user caseload by prioritizing workload.
4.Organize and provide purposeful one-to-one service user action planning sessions and reviews.
5.Identify groups and activities for service users to run independently, facilitating the development of peer-run groups and sessions.
6.Adhere to the community service referral procedure.
7.Provide needs assessment, risk assessment, and risk management plans for individual service users using our client s processes.
8.Refer service users to other support services when appropriate (e.g., housing, counseling, CAB).
9.Promote and encourage access to services that enhance personal wellbeing, health, and life skills training to increase service users independence and self-esteem.
10.Ensure confidentiality is maintained in accordance with our client s Confidentiality Policy.
Person Specification: Skills & Abilities (Essential/Desirable/Where Tested):
- Good verbal/written communication skills (Essential).
- Competent IT skills (Essential).
- Knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities (Essential).
- Ability to prioritize and organize workload (Essential).
- Ability to motivate others (Essential).
- Ability to deal with personal stress (Essential).
- Experience of running activity groups and sessions (Desirable).
- Ability to liaise with a wide range of organizations (Essential).
- Full driving license and access to a vehicle (Essential).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Understanding of mental illness (Essential).
- At least 6 months working experience within mental health services or related field (Essential).
Special Aptitudes:
- Commitment to service user development (Essential).
- Commitment to self-development (Essential).
- Able to work in a team (Essential).
- Have hobbies or interests that can be shared within service user activity sessions (Desirable).
Other:
- Able to attend our client s training, meetings, and other essential events (Essential).
- Able to work weekends and evenings if necessary (Essential).
Basic Terms and Conditions of Employment:
Status: Permanent post (subject to a 6-month probationary period).
Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Holidays: 25 days per annum, plus statutory Bank Holidays (increasing to 28 days after two years of continuous service).
Pension: Matching contributions for employees between 3.5% and 6.5%.
