Job description

Empowering Learning are supporting an independent SEND education provider based across London. They support children and young adults aged 7 - 19 with an EHCP for Autism, SEMH and associated complex needs. They are currently recruiting for several experienced Outreach Workers across London to work full time within the community. Positions will start in March 2024 and continue for the remainder of the academic year, with the option to transfer to a permanent contract.

The selected applicants will have previous experience with Autism, Behavioural and mental health difficulties. You must have 2 years' experience within a SEMH school or alternative provision or have completed a similar outreach role. Without this experience you will not be shortlisted.

You will be required to support children and young adults within the community who have CAMHS referrals and have experienced high levels of trauma. You will meet students at home or within the community either on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis to assist with work. Work and activities will be tailored to the needs of the student. As the student becomes more engaged with learning, you will work with teachers and outside agencies to reintegrate students back into school and full-time education where possible. Many of the students are disengaged, therefore you will need to be resilient and calm, preparing to put in the time required to build relationships with the students you support.

The education provider is very therapeutic in its approach, working closely with therapists, families, and outside agencies to support students to overcome their mental health difficulties, while working to gain the best academic outcome

For candidates who commit, the school can offer excellent rates of pay, as well as a friendly and stable working environment. The school current has opportunities across London, including East London, North-West, North and South London. Regardless of location all staff with be required to attend the schools site in East London every Friday.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. You will be required to apply for an Enhanced DBS if your current DBS is not on the update service.

If you are looking for a rewarding role in SEND and want to make difference, we want to hear from you! Please submit your CV today to Kenny Fraser at Empowering Learning at kenny.fraser@empowering-learning.co.uk
