We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to help our local communities thrive by assisting them, as part of wider Community Planning initiatives, to identify their ambitions and to transform them into deliverable community projects which are aligned to the Councils+rsquo; infrastructure priorities.

What you could be part of...

You will be a part of the Councils+rsquo; dynamic and forward-thinking Place Shaping Team, that forms part of the Planning Department. Within the team, you will work closely with the existing Community Planning Officers in the delivery of the Councils+rsquo; Community Planning support programme, which is recognised as being amongst the most effective within the region.

Principally, your work will involve direct and ongoing engagement with local communities that have, or are developing community-led plans, in order to help them identify and deliver community actions and suitable local infrastructure projects that help meet their aspirations and those of the Councils. The role will also involve close working with the Councils+rsquo; Planning Officers and members of the Growth Delivery Team to ensure that projects support the Councils+rsquo; infrastructure priorities where necessary.

What you+rsquo;ll be doing...

Supporting Parish and Town Councils to identify their community ambitions and assist them to develop these into implementable local projects through the preparation and implementation of Local and Neighbourhood Plans.

Assist communities to implement community projects through activities such as capacity building and the creation of effective delivery partnerships between communities and relevant Council Officers and external partners.

Support the effective planning and delivery of community infrastructure by:

Maintaining a structured record of community infrastructure revenues secured through s106 legal agreements and Community Infrastructure liabilities;

Monitor the spending/transfer of community infrastructure revenue, identifying actions to ensure the effective investment of that revenue;

Advise Council officer and local partners on CIL and s106 issues related to the delivery of community infrastructure and, working with communities, assist in the identification of solutions.

Maintain an understanding of local strategies, action plans and projects that relate to or support the implementation of Local and Neighbourhood Plans and that have been produced by or are being delivered by the Council and/or its partners.

Ensure that communities are aware of local infrastructure projects and opportunities and Raise awareness of community projects that align with local strategies, action plans and projects to ensure opportunities for joint or devolved delivery are identified and understood.

You must have...

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English, or equivalent.

A minimum of 2 years+rsquo; experience of working in a community development or planning environment.

Experience of co-ordinating activities across multiple complex projects.

Experience of collaborative working across disciplines to deliver shared outcomes.

Working knowledge and understanding of current planning legislation, policy and practice.

An ability to prepare reports which may need to be presented orally and in writing, and be able to deal with any subsequent enquiries.

Be able to demonstrate ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines demonstrating strong organisational and prioritisation techniques.

A methodical approach with attention to detail and accuracy.

Good communication and negotiation skills.

UK driving licence

You should be able to...

Undertake problem-solving duties on complex technical activities.

Work under broad direction, being responsible for your own work in one or more technically specialist areas.

Undertake technical advisory duties involving significant resources.

Demonstrate good communications skills, including occasional presentations to stakeholders such as corporate managers, members, committees/panels or other key external bodies.
