Community Project Officer

We have an exciting opportunity Project Officer to support the charity in enabling people and communities to improve their health, prospects, and outdoor places.

Position:Project Officer - East Sussex Health Walk

Location: Hastings/hybrid (with travel across East Sussex as required)

Salary: £21,668.40 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (flexible working)

Contract: Fixed term until 31 October 2025

Closing Date: 23rd February 2024

Interview Date: 6th March 2024 in Hastings

About the Role

As a Project Officer you will be responsible for the coordination and expansion of a varied programme of Health Walks in East Sussex following the funding plan from ESCC as well as help contribute to local operational plans and towards the achievement of the organisations Strategic Plan.

These are the key areas of responsibility:

  • Oversee the recruitment, induction and support of Volunteers and Volunteer Officers
  • Maintain and service resources, including premises, IT equipment, Vehicles, tools and project materials and PPE
  • Supervise and run local projects, engaging with the local community
  • Carry out risk assessment in relation to people and working environments
  • Monitor the success of local projects
  • Contribute to local and national initiatives
  • Assist in generating income, by planning and researching new opportunities locally.

About You

As a Project Officer, you will bring with you the following key skills and experience:

  • Planning and implementing health projects and community engagement events
  • Collection of information to facilitate monitoring and evaluation
  • Recruiting and managing volunteers
  • Working in partnership with other organisations, and community groups
  • Knowledge of implementing health initiatives to improve wellbeing

Please note in order to carry out the duties of this role a Driving License is required.
