This role will involve occasional evening and weekend working, with occasional travel across the region for events and to visit Rainbows Shops, so flexibility is essential.

Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People supports over 300 children and young people living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions across the East Midlands. We support every child and young person to fulfil their potential, and help families make the most of every precious moment, while capturing memories and keepsakes to treasure.
We are seeking a Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to join our dedicated Volunteering Team at Rainbows, where volunteers play a pivotal role in supporting every aspect of our vital work, from gardening and housekeeping to retail and care support. With over 300 individuals generously volunteering their time, skills, and passion, we are seeking a positive and enthusiastic individual to help us continue making a difference to the children, young people, and families we support.
Summary of Role Responsibilities
As a Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, you will be help coordinate our volunteer recruitment activities, working with communities and organisations across the East Midlands. Your role will involve creatively promoting and advertising volunteering opportunities, engaging supporters, and inspiring individuals to join the range of meaningful volunteer opportunities we have at Rainbows.
You will act as the first point of contact for all volunteering enquiries and queries, and help coordinate all elements of the volunteer process including selection, interview and training; whilst maintaining accurate records within the volunteer database. Working with different departments within the charity, you will identify and develop exciting opportunities for volunteers, fostering a sense of community and support. You will also use your excellent communication and problem-solving skills to help resolve any day-to-day issues encountered by volunteers and provide support and guidance to staff when engaging and managing volunteers.
Role Requirements
While prior experience of working with volunteers is ideal, it is not essential. We are looking for someone with exceptional people skills, an empathetic and positive attitude, and the ability to connect with a diverse range of people. Your confidence as a networker and motivator will be essential in establishing strong relationships and inspiring others to get involved.
You will be confident working with complex databases and Microsoft Office packages and have high-level administration skills, along with a solid understanding of GDPR processes.
