Let us tell a bit about the opportunity

The Completions Officer will report to the Completions Team Manager and manage all queries and tasks relating to the completion of a mortgage after an offer has been issued. The team has a key and critical role in the mortgage application process.

The team support and manage queries relating to Residential and Buy to let mortgage applications after issue of offer through to funds release and completion.

They provide exceptional service to customers, intermediaries and solicitors, making timely decisions and ensuring all offer and lending criteria are met.

They need to manage each application to ensure appropriate controls are in place, standard operating procedures are followed and any risk to the business or customer is understood and mitigated.

They work with Aldermore partners, such as intermediaries, solicitors and valuers to ensure an efficient end to end process from post offer that complies with all regulatory and UK Finance requirements.

What will your day look like?

  • Responsibility for the processing of Certificates of Titles (COTs) to ensure compliance with all loan offer conditions and the details provided are accurate and adequate to proceed to completion.
  • Pursue all necessary mortgage documents to support the completion of new mortgage applications.
  • Manage and control the release of completion funds, ensuring deadlines are met and funds reach the panel solicitor.
  • Review and respond to legal correspondence from Solicitors and where applicable liaise with relevant underwriters, credit risk and third party partners for any queries to ensure an efficient completion.
  • Understanding of both residential and/or commercial lending policy at all key stages of the mortgage application process with some understanding of complex company structures/portfolio types/asset classifications.
  • Proactively keep customers and brokers informed of the progress of post offer applications and explain Aldermore's timelines and requirements throughout the process using the agreed contact strategy.
  • Understand and administer all necessary mortgage documents, to customer, intermediaries, and panel solicitors to include a good understanding of securities and the legal process required to complete a mortgage transaction to ensure risk is moderated.
  • To maintain strong relationships with key internal departments (underwriting, sales, credit, FC) and external stakeholders (such as surveyors, brokers, and solicitors).
  • Good experience of assessing Credit Searches, Land Registry information and Fraud avoidance tools.
  • To achieve competency in all team tasks, identify and review changes to Standard Operating Procedures and support implementation of improvement ideas across the wider teams.
  • Development of skills and instinct, to identify potential scheme abuse and fraudulent activity.
  • Provide training to team colleagues to support establishing a resilient department.

  • A good understanding of both Residential and Commercial lending, including an understanding of complex company structures/portfolio types/asset classifications.
  • Support, coach and develop team colleagues in obtaining a post offer mandate.
  • Continuously demonstrate a collaborative approach to delivery, managing key stakeholders and inter team dependencies.
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues facing the department and wider business to ensure appropriate action and resolution is achieved.
  • A knowledge of the mortgage market, including Owner Occupied, Buy to Let and Specialist Buy to Let.
  • Comfortable working in a changing and fast paced environment, balancing change and improvements with necessary regulatory controls and risk mitigants.
  • Ability to flex to changing volumes and pace of work.
  • Achieve individual KPIs which supports the team KPIs.
