Compliance Analyst (0-3 Years Experience) – Compliance, Surveillance – Financial Services

Location - Glasgow - 2/3 days a week in the office commutable from surrounding areas

Role Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested and keen to enter Financial Services or someone keen to grow their career in Financial Services.

You might be a recent graduate with A levels, or a university degree, or someone who has previously worked in a compliance role at a financial institution (e.g. 2nd line compliance, transaction monitoring or trade surveillance, sanctions alert handling etc)

As a Compliance Analyst you will participate in compliance and operations monitoring, governance, oversight, and regulatory reporting activities in coordination with compliance and internal control teams.

Full and detailed training will be provided

Your responsibilities will include and not limited to the following;

  • Manage policy updates/edits/releases
  • Evaluate and monitor transactional activity to assess potential suspicious activity (e.g., money laundering)
  • Perform transaction monitoring alert reviews and sanctions hit reviews to be able to identify when activity requires further investigation
  • Interpret and implement client operating policies regarding financial data
  • Identify data anomalies and red flags for money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and sanctions violations, and escalate for second level review
  • Research, draft, and file Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) to enforcement networks, and document decisions not to file a SAR – exercising independent judgment and discretion while handling sensitive cases
  • Execute account maintenance updates and process client lifecycle related reports
  • Ensure client vetting data and document processing comply with regulations, guidelines, standards, and policies for all new accounts

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent written, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact and work closely with business stakeholders at all levels of seniority
  • Analytical thinking and critical reasoning skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively handle a fast-paced environment and successfully meet established deadline requirements
  • Ability to assimilate information and summarise key facts
  • ACAMS and/or SIE certification a plus
  • You will have completed your A-Levels or will be a new graduate (any degree, but business, law, or finance preferred)
