Component Engineer

We are currently recruiting for our missile making client, who are looking for a Component Engineer to work on a hybrid/remote basis from either their Bolton or Stevenage site.
As a Component Engineer you will be tasked to select and catalogue mechanical and electromechanical components for missile products. You'll ensure compliance with standards and manage obsolescence, while working on-site one day per week.
This is a full time contract role with the possibility of contract extension or permanent role.
Knowledge and Experience Required
• Knowledge and experience of electromechanical components and parts
• Understanding and appreciation of the REACH and RoHS regulations.
• Experience with tests and inspections on components.
• Knowledge of detailed records and documentation related to component specifications and testing results.
• Engineering Degree or relevant experience
• Proficient in MS Office tools, Outlook, Excel, Word
• High concern for order and quality
• Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently
• Strong communication skills to facilitate communications with key stakeholders
Duties
• You will get to know in detail the latest products and technologies available to support our customers' advice.
• Regular visits to relevant stakeholders and suppliers will be made to keep up-to-date knowledge.
• Support local and international continuous improvement initiatives to help define best practices and manage the adoption and adherence of agreed methodologies across the teams internationally.
• Assess and manage relationships with suppliers, including negotiating price terms and ensuring the reliability of component sources.
• Perform tests and inspections on components to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards.
• Monitor component lifecycles and address issues related to component obsolescence, ensuring the availability of replacement parts.
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance.
