JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Computer Operations team, you will work within a 24/7 systems monitoring team and be responsible for the well-being of the next IT infrastructure including any issues surrounding our websites, stores warehouse, and 3rd parties. 

About the Team: 

Working within a team of 12,  you will play a key role in ensuring Next operates to the highest quality. You will ensure day-to-day tasks/jobs are completed accurately, on time, and in line with the operations procedures.

Technical Skills\Requirements

Essential

  • Able to speak, read, and write English at a level that enables you to complete your role, for example, to understand instructions and communicate effectively with stakeholders and other team members
  • Significant experience as an Observability Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or similar roles, with a track record of successful observability projects and client engagements.
  • Proven expertise in working with diverse tools and technologies, including Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Jaeger, and others.
  • Consulting and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in engaging with clients, understanding their business challenges, and delivering high-impact solutions that align with their objectives.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or Go, to enhance observability workflows.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset to navigate and resolve complex observability challenges.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Passionate about software development and have a desire to continue learning and growing in the field.
  • Proactive attitude to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Desirable Criteria 

  • Experience within IT Service Operations (ITIL) including incident, problem, and change 
  • Coaching/mentoring Computer Operation Analyst 
  • Experienced in effectively working collaboratively in a large-scale, fast-paced environment using languages such as SQLSQL/IIS/MS
