Configuration Development Engineer

Location: Larbert OR Farnborough

Your dream role: We have an exciting opportunity for a Configuration Development Engineer to contribute to the transformation of the company, by implementing the Configure Price Quote (CPQ) configurator and utilizing the configurator as a catalyst to improve the “Front End” process and management. 
In this role you will also be responsible for maintaining the configured vehicle platforms to produce accurate contract specifications and bills of materials (BOMs) whilst continuously improving current processes.
Day to day activities will include:

 

  • Develop and maintain the configurator architecture to provide accurate Technical Specification and BOM output for all vehicle variants.
  • Configurator BOM output accuracy KPI
  • Work with Business Intelligence team to set up KPI dashboards to track configurator related processes.
  • Continually strive towards improving the efficiency of existing processes and develop new processes where required.
  • Manage configurator helpdesk tickets in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work with the team to develop a new configurator for Alexander Dennis.
  • User training & SOPs
  • This role is not a software development position.

 

 

What you will bring:

  • You will be a degree or HND qualified Engineer.
  • Working knowledge of Engineering BOMs and processes
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Comfortable handling large datasets.
  • Attention to detail imperative. Able to understand an engineering drawing and relate this back to design intent.
  • Ability to learn product knowledge and design intent important.
  • Ability to implement the commercial requirements from a CPQ configurator.
  • Motivated to be able to work alone (remote working) as well as within a team (In person and online).
  • Good knowledge of database applications.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of configuring a similar application: i.e., Sales/Marketing/customer support application (Desirable, on-site training available as required).
  • Experience in automotive (ideally heavy) would be an advantage.
