A leading Civil Engineering contractor with a well renowned presence across the North West are looking for a Construction Planner/Senior Planner to join their team on a permanent basis. The contractor deliver a full turn key solution to work in the ground, providing all substructure packages.
About the Role
As an experienced Planner, you will provide project planning, programming and progress monitoring. You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining robust and achievable construction programme schedules, compliant with project requirements. In addition, you'll be identifying potential risks, assessing their impact and generating regular progress reports for project stakeholders.
- You will also work at Pre-Construction stages to produce programmes for tender, with the ability to define methods and establish competitive outputs, in consultation with the Estimator and other team members.
- Contribute to the required written submission material.
- You will work to interpret and understand project/contract documentation.
- Monitoring, recording and reporting on progress of all projects under your control, presenting project status to the Director and other senior stakeholders within the business.
- Continually analyse performance, intervening where required to refocus planning efforts in the recovery or redirection of projects (in agreement with Project Manager).
- Ensure the construction strategy and any recommended improvements are communicated.
- Ensure records (as built info) are maintained, allowing the feedback of actual data, driving efficiencies in optimised project delivery and ensuring that lessons learnt are incorporated into future projects.
- Liaising with the commercial team to track change and prepare programmes to support commercial claims;
- Producing short term lookahead programmes;
- Engage in a purposeful and well organised manner with other team members.
- Assimilate information and summarise it in a manner that can be used to communicate the work scope to others.
- Undertake programme risk analysis.
- Manage personally controlled project documentation in an orderly fashion.
- Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.
Requirements for the role
- Experience in the planning and production of construction programmes
- Ideally a background in civil engineering or general construction
- Experience in actively measuring and monitoring performance
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of the NEC construction contracts and a knowledge of how to develop a programme in line with the requirements.
- Computer literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office programmes
- A good working knowledge of Asta is essential for this position
