Digital Risk & Control is looking for a Risk & Control Consultant to join the team, with a specific emphasis on the support of our Digital and Innovation-focussed teams.
You’ll be part of a high performing and committed risk team, using your experience to support colleagues working at the forefront of digital technology, working to deliver high quality analysis to help us delivery digital experiences, safely. This will involve working with stakeholders, building & maintaining reports, challenging the status quo and being a voice for customers in the fast-paced world of Digital & Integration.

What you’ll be doing
As a Risk & Control Consultant you’ll be providing digital risk and controls expertise to help the team to deliver risk assessments, controls management and risk monitoring activities. You will be seen by your stakeholders as a trusted partner in a ‘high support and high challenge relationship’ which will require collaboration with multiple business areas and other specialist Risk & Controls SMEs to help Nationwide deliver change at pace, safely.
As part of this role you will:
- To design, maintain and continuously improve risk and control activities which support risk and control services, in adherence with Nationwide’s policies, procedures and frameworks. This role will initially be focussed at supporting colleagues in the Innovation space.
- Provide risk advice and support the presentation of formal risk assessments / committee papers to promote appropriate risk management and the delivery of fair customer outcomes and good experience for members.
- You’ll need to be prepared to show flexibility and work with momentum. We’re looking for collaborators who can deliver at pace and can listen and absorb quickly.
- Support the maintenance and reporting of risk profiles and risk reporting at an operational and strategic level.
- Work alongside other specialist risk and control partners to assess the business impact of risks
- Be an ambassador for better risk and control data
- Empower and support a diverse and effective team of risk practitioners, using your skills to enhance the already existing talent in the team.
About you
You’ll need to be pragmatic, be able to work collaboratively, and be able to adapt to a challenging and changing environment.
As a minimum requirement you’ll have:
- Proven understanding of technology and digital
- Experience of risk and control management techniques
- Experience in delivering / supporting the delivery of change
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Be able to demonstrate a data and MI focus
It's not essential but it would be nice if you have:
- Solid understanding and practical knowledge of the current regulatory environment and developments impacting the financial services sector from a Digital and technology perspective.
- Risk & Control knowledge in the areas of cyber, third party/ supplier, data, operational risk.
- Practical experience of embedding controls in technology solution design, delivery and operations, and as part of Agile / DevOps ways of working.
- Possess an industry recognised technology risk qualification.
