Consultant Subspecialist Urogynaecology
We have an exciting opportunity to expand our consultant workforce within the Urogynaecology team at the University Hospitals of Leicester. The Gynaecology department is looking for 2 dynamic and energetic Consultants with subspecialty training in Urogynaecology to provide a comprehensive Tertiary level service to patients at University Hospitals of Leicester, NHS Trust.
An elective hub centre is due to be developed at the Leicester General Hospital with theatre access available from December 2024, clinic and clean room access to be available from October 2024. This provides an exciting opportunity to ensure we have adequate facilities to facilitate service expansion and will help in the delivery of a more timely service.
The successful candidate will be required to provide sub specialist urogynaecology outpatient and elective services. They will undertake managerial duties associated with the care of their patients and the running of their clinical department. They will have an understanding of the wider health agenda and modern NHS.
They will also partake in the on-call rota for Gynaecology at the Leicester Royal Infirmary site.
• To provide sub specialist urogynaecology outpatient and elective services
• To manage outpatient clinics for new and follow up patients
• To undertake outpatient diagnostic procedures
• To manage ambulatory clinics for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• Responsible for the management of the surgical patient both day case and inpatient surgery including ward rounds
• Management and assessment /triage of new referrals to the department using e-Referral service and provide pre-referral advice and guidance
• To take part in MDT case discussions , and attend both MDT meetings and joint pelvic floor outpatient clinics
• To take part on the consultant on- call rota and provide prospective daytime cover for the emergency Gynaecology unit ( GAU)
• To contribute to the strategic planning and service development of the Urogynaecology department
• To ensure the provision of good standards of practice and care, as prescribed in GMC Guidance ‘Duties of a Doctor’ at all times , and ensuring that bad practice is reported, as appropriate
• The consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of their clinical practice .To achieves this, the post holder will liaise closely with other specialities. Departments and outside agencies in contributing to the objectives of the department, CMG & Trust
• To provide educational supervision
