Content Engineering Manager

The Role

We are seeking a passionate people manager to help us support our Content Engineering Team. The Content Engineering Team at TryHackMe is responsible for developing cyber security training for the platform. They are tasked with researching, writing, and engineering custom cybersecurity labs. You will work closely with the Head of Content Engineering to create a collaborative culture with open communication and facilitate up-skilling and growth for our team members. This role will focus on managing an international team of engineers in a fast-paced, fully remote work environment and will not require you to perform technical tasks.


Key tasks as a People Manager within the Content Engineering Team will include:


Team Leadership and Development:


Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning

  • create and monitor structured training programs for team members to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.


Conduct performance evaluations and career development discussions.

  • Create and monitor individualised career development plans, setting clear milestones and objectives for each team member.
  • Create and monitor individualised quality improvement plans, setting clear goals for quality improvements.


Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to team members, helping them develop their technical skills and advance in their careers.

  • Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with team members to coach, mentor, and discuss progress, challenges, and development goals.


Communication and Collaboration:

  • Organise cross-team workshops or knowledge-sharing sessions to promote collaboration.
  • Assist team members in problem-solving or escalating issues and challenges raised to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in assigning team members to participate in cross-team collaboration projects.


Technical Upskilling:

  • Read and summarise industry publications and blogs, sharing relevant insights with the team.
  • Organise technical skills workshops to up-skill team members in cyber security.
  • Assign team members to research and present on emerging technologies relevant to our field.


Adhoc Manager Administration:

  • Handle absences, such as leaves and vacations; ensuring proper annual leave scheduling.
  • Handle any conduct or performance issues according to company policy (with support of HR).
  • Manage assigned budgets and expenses.
  • Run team leadership projects to help the company meet organisational goals.



Skills & Requirements:

To succeed in this role you will be able to showcase some (or all) of the following:


  • Experience in managing technical teams. Any experience in managing multi-cultural, remote teams is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in online training, e-learning management, or cyber security training. Experience with proofreading or editing training materials is optional, but preferred.
  • At least 3 years experience working within the Cyber Security Industry.
  • Background in psychology is welcome. As your main responsibilities will involve helping our team succeed in their position, communication and coaching skills will be very helpful.
  • Track record showing strong dedication to facilitating effective communication within the team and across departments.
  • Proven ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Project management experience is optional, but preferred. You will be responsible for planning, execution, and delivery of team leadership projects, ensuring they align with organisational goals and client expectations.

Stage One: Short Introduction Call (30 mins)

Stage Two: Take Home Exercise

Stage Three: Interview with Head of Content Engineering (one hour)

Stage Four: Final Call with a Co-Founder (30 mins)
