Spectrum IT's Portsmouth client are currently seeking to recruit a Contract Commercial Finance Accountant/Manager to join them on an initial 6 month contract. The role has been deemed inside IR35 and will be a hybrid working role requiring 3 days onsite per week. (This can be in the Portsmouth or London office, possibly split depending on work.)
As part of the Commercial Finance team you will work closely with senior stakeholders and team members to influence decision making and shape the future direction of the business financially. The right candidate for this role will be highly commercial and analytical and be able to balance both short term departmental results against long term, cross-departmental goals. You will apply your commercial and financial knowledge across the Product, Engineering & IT teams to support initiatives from inception to completion.
Responsibilities
- Work with key stakeholders across the business to set short, medium and long-term targets to maximise returns from new initiatives, ensuring the delivery of intended benefits and efficiencies
- Work with Product & Engineering community to establish a clear link between client initiatives and the enablers that will drive the success of the Year Plan, Budget and quarterly objectives
- Support on initial 'quick' sizing and appraisal of new initiatives within the product and engineering team
- Use investment hurdles and impact-effort evaluations to help determine which initiatives should be prioritised
- Ensure the financial impact of product and engineer initiatives are understood and captured in our forecasting
- Support the business to deliver on capitalised salaries and understand implications of additional resourcing requirements
- Attend and contribute to monthly group reporting on capital expenditure
- Support and challenge business areas in receipt of Product and Change initiatives to ensure intended benefits are given sufficient focus
- Establish a 'feedback loop' for ensuring learnings from completed initiatives feed continuous improvement of new ones
- Work with Product teams to evaluate MVP and POC performance to determine next steps
- Support on investment appraisals across the business that require capex investment
- Work with IT to drive efficiencies and delivery annual opex spend
- M&A appraisal - provide support for business cases and modelling for any identified M&A targets
Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant
- 3+ years post qualification experience in similarly fast paced environments
- Experience of Power BI desirable with a focus on data and analysis
- Advanced financial modelling skills
- Pro-active and strives for excellence
