Job title: Contract Paint Technician (Late Shift)

Rate: £20.24 – 24.04ph (PAYE)
Duration: 6 Months +
An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed and appropriately skilled paint sprayer to work within our Aerospace Manufacturing facility. As a paint sprayer you should be able to prepare and apply wet paint to Aerospace machined, sheet metal Aluminium and composite components. Initially this will be working Days 7:00 - 16:00 then moving onto the Late Shift 15:00-00:00 Mon - Thu, 12:00-17:00 Fri.
As a paint sprayer you are required to perform all operations from preparing and masking a component to applying the paint.
- Prepare surfaces to be covered using various hand tools
- Setting up the spray equipment
- Prepare pre-treated aluminium
- Masking where appropriate
- You will use a manual spray gun to apply coatings in line with the job’s instructions.
- Prepare pre-treated aluminium
- Apply primer to work instruction sheets
- Apply topcoats to work instruction sheets
- Ensure all paint materials are mixed correctly for colour and consistency and recorded for paint traceability in accordance with work instruction sheets
- Quality check all finished jobs
- Supporting the Business in the implementation of Continuous Improvement and Health and safety initiatives
- Reporting any defects to supervision
- Ensuring that they have adequate information to complete their task
- Any other reasonable duties
Responsibilities
- You will need to work well in a team environment, have a flexible approach and a desire to learn new processes and meet strict delivery schedules, whilst working to exacting quality standards.
- Working to a schedule of work to meet on-time delivery and to the required quality requirements.
- Painting Aerospace metallic and composite manufactured parts, including sub-assemblies
- Application of paints to be applied in accordance with internal OEM approvals
- The ability to accurately follow detailed engineering drawings, work instructions and specifications
- Demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards of quality at work Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- The operative must have good attention to detail and be able to work to a high standard with an excellent focus on Health and Safety.
Education
Minimum of GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
Minimum of 5 years of spraying small component work
Hours of Work – Day shift – 39 hours per week:
Mon-Thurs: 07:00-16:00
Fri: 07:00-12:00
Hours of Work – Late Shift
Mon-Thurs: 15:00-00:00
Fri: 12:00-17:00
