Contracts And Procurement Solicitor

We are working with a Local Authority in the Oxfordshire region looking for a permanent 5+ PQE Commercial Contracts and Procurement Solicitor to join their department.

The role offers a salary of £49,590 – £52,658 (DOE) and an excellent benefits package. This is a full – time position with the council operating on a flexible working environment.

About the position:

Commercial Lawyers are expected to undertake the following duties:

Provide legal advice in relation to commercial, Contracts and Procurement law adhering to the Legal Services Core Competencies Framework To manage and provide advice on your own caseload of varied complex matters with minimal supervision To deputise for the Senior Lawyers and support junior legal colleagues in their work if required To act as a senior and specialist legal advisor and support a significant portfolio of work which directly delivers on the Council’s key priorities and areas of risk To Undertake complex proceedings on behalf of the council with minimal supervision including complex advocacy work where required Work closely with Elected Members and Directorate and Corporate teams as required to provide strategic support  

About you:

The successful Commercial Lawyer will be an admitted Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX of England and Wales with a current practising certificate. Good knowledge of commercial law, contract law and Procurement legislations and practices are essential. You will be ambitious, a team player, driven by delivering a high-quality service, and have a positive attitude towards building relationships with social workers and your wider team. It is important that anyone joining the council is committed to this area of law and has a genuine enthusiasm for the work. The ability to work under pressure is imperative, be self-motivated, and able to work to deadlines.

Previous commercial local authority experience is desirable. You will also need to be comfortable undertaking some advocacy.
