Purpose

Global Energy Management (GEM) is a global business unit which provides commodity market access and related services to ScottishPower's Energy Retail and Renewables businesses.

Responsible for managing commodity market exposures of the ScottishPower portfolio, through wholesale trading strategies in energy products and related markets, this global activity has the main goal of optimising energy margins and minimising risk from wholesale market exposures.

Responsibilities

As Contracts Negotiator, you will solely manage the activities of the Contracts Team, providing specialist expertise on the complex contractual and legal obligations of the GEM business.

Responsible for managing all trading related agreements through the Contracts function, you will be tasked with managing the financial and physical trading & credit related agreements for power, gas and environmental products, as well as other contracts related to Global Energy Management business including Exchange and Clearing Agreements, IT Systems Agreements and a suite of market analysis subscriptions. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring GEM complies with certain regulatory obligations relating to these activities.

Providing clear, concise and factual information which will assist GEM decision making and that of the ScottishPower Senior Management team, you will offer guidance and support to the wider team as well as implementing the direction of GEM.

This role is primarily based in Glasgow but as part of a global business function, there may be opportunities to undertake short to medium term assignments in other Global Energy Management locations (e.g. Madrid).

What you'll bring

Educated to Honours Degree in relevant field (e.g. Business/Law), you will possess experience in Wholesale Market contracts negotiation.  Understanding wholesale commodity markets, the drivers and business activities within these markets, you will be highly analytical with a proven track record of precision, accuracy and attention to detail. As a skilled communicator with effective influencing skills, you will hold knowledge of managing energy related contractual obligations.
