Contracts Officer, Inside IR35

Contract Term: 12 Months

Contracting Authority: Nuclear Waste Services

Location: Calerbridge, Cumbria – Hybrid (One day per week in Office)

Nuclear Waste Services brings together the UK’s leading nuclear waste management capabilities.

We have integrated the expertise of Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR), Radioactive Waste Management (RWM), and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) group’s Integrated Waste Management Programme (IWMP). This creates an organisation focused on the management of the UK’s nuclear waste, safely and securely for generations to come.

We are part of the NDA group, which is undertaking the biggest clean-up project in Europe over many decades. Nuclear Waste Services is integral to this environmental clean-up mission, as we work to provide permanent answers to our country’s nuclear waste. The UK has been producing and managing radioactive waste on an industrial scale since the 1940s. However, today’s approach and capabilities for waste management need to adapt to keep pace with NDA’s decommissioning ambitions. This includes its commitment to recycle 50% of waste from decommissioning and reduce secondary wastes by around 70% by 2030.

As a Contracts Officer your main responsibilities will be:

· Generation of contract and commercial management deliverables, including reporting against progress to the Senior Contract Manager, the business and external bodies;

· Identification, analysis, and management of contract & commercial risks, issues, and assumptions;

· Maintain a knowledge and awareness of all applicable legislation to ensure compliance in everything w do (e.g. Public Contract Regulations);

· Be a team leader, either managing a team or coaching and mentoring individuals;

· Provide support and guidance to both internal parties and external customers and suppliers;

· Establish supplier relationships, to build, strengthen & maintain new & existing relationships;

· Proactively manage suppliers ensuring goods and services are delivered to the required quality, cost and schedule;

· Support the review of the C&CM Internal management systems to align with, and cope with, new service requirements for contract and commercial management and finance (relating to supplier payment certification);

· Deputising for the Senior Contract Manager, as required.

You’ll have relevant experience in:

· Relevant Contract Management/ Procurement experience covering a range of services

· Appropriate practical knowledge and experience of the NEC suite of contracts including experience of a range of NEC Main Options;

· Strong commercial & contract awareness and able to demonstrate experience in purchasing & contract management.

· A demonstrable ability to deal with stakeholders across a broad range of management levels and technical expertise;

· Experience of establishing & maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders in order to achieve NWS’s strategic objectives;

· Excellent IT skills with practical experience of Microsoft Excel and Word;

· Experience of involvement in complex business programmes;

· Hold or be able to obtain baseline personnel security standard.

You will ideally have these Qualifications/Skills:

· Degree in relevant subject or part professional qualification (e.g. MCIPS / RICS

· Practical experience of the NEC3 Professional Services Contract (PSC) and/or Professional Services Short Contract (PSSC);
