Control Design Engineer

On behalf of our client in Heywood we are recruiting for a Control Design Engineer on a permanent basis.

Salary - £35k - £40k pa

Hours will be 8.00am 4.00pm Monday-Thursday, 8.00am 12.30pm Friday. 35 hour working week.

The required individual will have experience of working within a fast paced environment, taking ownership of contracts at the point of handover of specification (from Sale to Engineering Dept.)

The role is varied and involves working with purchasing, subcontractors and production departments to deliver high-quality engineered products to all the major players in their respective global industries.

The ideal Control Design Engineer will have a good working knowledge of AutoCAD.

A strong engineering background is essential; prior knowledge of control panel design.

Responsibilities include: -

• Produce electrical schematics and general arrangement drawings for the control system using AutoCAD drawing packages. AutoCAD Electrical would be an advantage.

• Creating PLC I/O Connection details

• Prepare bills of materials

• Liaising with Panel Builders and Wiremen on Shopfloor

• Enclosure Specification & Selection

• Assist in quoting of control systems

• Assist in Control Panel Test

• Supporting After-Sales Team with telephone enquires

• The successful delivery of all design projects allocated to you

• Producing test documentation and manuals (i.e. O&M s, FDS)

• Liaise with Customers and interpret their requirements.

Experience/Qualifications:

• Professional qualification in an engineering discipline (i.e. HNC, ONC, NVQ)

• Have undertaken an industrial placement or held a job within an Engineering Firm

• Good people skills, time management and attention to detail

• Experience of AutoCAD and/or Electrical Design Package such as AutoCAD Electrical

• Be interested in Control Panel design for industrial products.

• Have some knowledge of PLC s and how they operate or be willing to learn them

• Knowledge of control philosophy (i.e. ability to design simple control circuits)

• Managing design projects of different types

• Communicating effectively, both internally and externally
