Orchard Professional Solutions Ltd are working with an Market leading company based in East Riding of Yorkshire, Our client is looking for a Control System Improvement Engineer to join there team.
Summary
The Bioethanol production process is 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The opportunity for development within control engineering is vast and continually developing with the evolution of technology. This role is day based and will be part of the E,C&I Engineering team. This role will encompass the development of plant Control Systems, with primary focus on the Emerson DCS system.
This roll will define and recommend technical improvement opportunities which meet business goals and investment criteria.
This roll will also ensure OT Cyber Security is managed to ensure Confidentiality; Integrity & Availability of the Control Systems is maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Control systems
- Direct the implementation of major, complex control projects which will enhance plant reliability and performance
- Lead the development of control and measurement systems in support of projects and modifications to plant processes.
- Carry out benefit analysis studies of Control System enhancements and put forward expenditure proposals for control enhancement and operator / process interface improvement capital projects
- Provide process control expertise for a business area in order to ensure sound maintenance of existing systems, solve technical problems and develop the smaller Control Systems to improve plant performance.
Tuning of Control Systems to optimise plant operations.
- Maintain a breadth of knowledge and understanding of control technology through academic links and relationships with equipment vendors so that potential business benefits from technical developments are evaluated and exploited.
Functional Safety
- To assist with the planned routine proof testing of the installed systems
- Fault interrogation of the SIS to include post activation and prior to subsequent re-set.
- Support of Process team during Process Safety Reviews including HAZOP and LoPA.
- Ensure Compliance with IEC-61511
OT Cyber Security
- Drive discipline of safe and secure working practices to protect the security of the Operational Technology Systems
- Ensure Compliance with IEC-61511

Personal attributes
- Able to work efficiently in a team environment and possess a level of communication and interpersonal skills that will facilitate working closely with the production team, process engineers, design engineers, craft technicians and staff responsible for purchasing
- Creative problem solving will be required to be able to work with high level hardware and software
Project management skills
- The incumbent will have extensive experience of working in a similar position on a large scale manufacturing site (ideally COMAH), with a track record of delivery proven over a number of years and will be fully familiar with the legislative requirements to ensure E,C and I compliance
- The role requires good verbal, written and presentation skills, in order to be able to communicate effectively at all levels
