Job Role:
As a controls engineer, you will play an integral role on commissioning, configuration and support for 7-axes CNC machines designed and built by the company. The role will involve electrical machine tool design, tuning and configuration of axes and fault-finding ladder modification.
Role responsibilities:
Required
- Design, Specification, configuration, and fault-finding of CNC servo drive systems to comply with specifications and machinery directives.
- Supporting electrical aspects of the in-house machine production
- Producing CE/ UKCA machinery directive certification and relevant technical documentations such as BOM, risk assessment and diagrams.
- Creating and Editing of Ladder programs
- Providing customer service and problem solving of Fanuc/ Bosch MTX systems
- Liaising with management, other departments, and customers

- Identify areas for improvement and implement plan of work.
- Global on-site commissioning or support
Qualifications (skills and experience)
Required
- 4+ years in technical role within electrical/ control engineering, especially machinery or system integration
- Experience of the CNC/ servo machine tools system (preferably Fanuc or Bosch) for the purposes of design, commissioning and debugging
- Experience of the principles of various motion drive system: rotary/ linear motors
- Experience of the implementation of safety systems for adjustable speed electrical power drive
- Experience of programming or design the control for mechanical/ electrical system.
Desirable
- Strong Electrical/ Control Engineering Degree
- Understanding of electrical automation systems including pneumatics, and hydraulic control
- Experience of CE/ UKCA MD (machinery directive) and Functional Safety for machine design
- Understanding of the safety implementation of EN (phone number removed), IEC (phone number removed)-2 and EN ISO (phone number removed): Performance Level (PL)
- Good electrical drawings skills (EPLAN, AUTOCAD, or OrCAD)
- Experience of programming in PLC, python, MATLAB, C++, or C
- Experience of the implementation of various electrical communication protocol e.g., Profibus, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP etc
- Understanding of error composition and their relevant calibration or compensation methods
- Valid UK driving license.
- Valid passport
