Controls Commissioning Engineer - Submarines

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Controls Commissioning Engineerto join the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business in Derby.

As a Controls Commissioning Engineer you will be a part of a commissioning team based at our Raynesway site and will carry out the Controls & Instrumentation commissioning of new and existing modified test rigs across a number of our Derby sites.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location.  It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.  As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:    

You will be both office based and hands on.

  • It will involve the writing of the C&I commissioning procedures, moving through the overseeing of the build phase through to the final inert and dynamic commissioning of the rig to hand over to the production team.
  • You will also require direct liaison with sub-Contractors, Electrical RP, Design team including managing any technical queries produced.
  • You will support and maintain our expanding Submarine capability several test rigs will be used for system testing, performance testing and design-proving evaluation.  It is currently estimated that there will be a need for new experimental and production test rigs to counter our expanding workload.

  • Testing background and be a served engineer.
  • Writing of commissioning procedures.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Engineering
  • Experience on Industrial maintenance and Fault finding.
  • Experience of hot and pressurised water systems would be advantageous.
  • IT literate with an open and flexible attitude to work. 
  • Have practical understanding of Manufacturing Operations.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
