To provide a pro-active approach towards carrying out troubleshooting, reactive repairs, upgrades and planned maintenance on controls equipment associated with mechanical services within buildings and energy centre.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out troubleshooting, reactive repairs and planned maintenance on complex controls and associated electrical equipment, including but not limited to heating, cooling, ventilation, DHW, steam & humidification, refrigeration, boilers and CHP plant.
- Carry out monitoring, interrogation, adjustments and programming of Honeywell BMS system (and other programmable control systems) to ensure optimum operation and performance of control systems and associated plant, with the aim of minimising energy consumption.
- Prepare and write risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for controls tasks in advance of commencing the works.
- Participate in the operation of the Estates Department preventative planned maintenance (PPM) scheme and the associated management control system (job line requests / timesheets).
- Participate and contribute towards creating a climate in which safety has a high value, is regularly promoted, ensuring work is being carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with the HSE Health & Safety Guidelines, Industry best practice and University H&S policies.
- Fulfil the role CP LV Electrical (Competent Person) (training will be provided as required).
- Assist with the delivery of and directly plan, organise and manage delegated budgets and supervise a variety of maintenance type projects. Examples being but not limited to: backlog maintenance, planned preventative maintenance, deferred maintenance, services infrastructure renewal and compliance type projects.
- Demonstrable experience of control and electrical systems including BMS, PLC and inverters, coupled with knowledge of how such systems are operated, controlled, maintained and repaired.
- Knowledge of HVAC building service technologies, plant, equipment and infrastructure.
- Knowledge and practical experience of the production and evaluation of RAMS, safe systems of work.
- Problem solving abilities.
- To meet the needs of the department and / or in response to emergencies and planned services disruptions, there will be a requirement from time to time for overtime working out of hours and at weekends.
- Minimum requirement for this post is completion of a recognised apprenticeship, City & Guilds or equivalent approved qualification and experience.
