Cook Manager

Newstaff Milton Keynes are looking for a Cook Manager for an Independent School based in Milton Keynes

You will be directing and managing the school meals service, to ensure children receive their school meals, therefore it is essential that you have a strong understanding of the importance of Health and Safety as well as high standards of hygiene and a neat and tidy appearance.

The school is fast going with approximately 350 children at present, from 6 months old to 16 years old,

You will be playing a vital part in the kitchen to prepare and provide home cooked meals for the Children, Staff and for School Events,

Main Purpose of the Job:

• Prepare and cook meals for children, staff, and events
• To complete administrative procedure and paperwork, order stock
• Be able to prepare the menus within agreed budget
• Ensuring all health and safety, food safety guidelines are adhered to and nutritional standards
• To supervise Kitchen staff, that are already in place and working well as a team
• Cleaning of kitchen equipment
• Undertake duties relevant to the work of the kitchen
• Liaise with Head Teacher and other staff members

Duties and Responsibilities

• NVQ Level 2 in professional cookery or equivalent is essential
• Supervision and co-ordination of staff employed in the kitchen
• Responsible for the preparation, cooking and serving of meals
• Responsible for ensuring all health and safety/standards are adhered to following company guidelines and standards

Must:

• Worked within a Kitchen before
• Previous catering experience
• Ideally from a School background but not essential
• Have a DBS
• Be able to provide excellence service

Shifts & Salary:

• Monday to Friday between the hours of 7.30am to 6pm
• There maybe some weekends from time to time due to events, parent evenings etc
• GBP14.00 to GBP16.00 per hour depending on experience
• This role is temp to perm (with 8 weeks probation)
