Newport City Council is the relevant authority for the Gwent Coroner’s Service. We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team delivering a key frontline service on behalf of HM Senior Coroner. As a Coroner’s Officer, you will play a crucial role supporting the service in conducting investigations into deaths and providing assistance to bereaved families. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations with empathy and professionalism. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in conducting investigations, collating evidence, and producing reports.


Coroner’s Officers will deal with people at a time of traumatic grief and some aspects of the position may be distressing owing to the nature of investigating deaths.

An ability to understand, speak and write in Welsh would be an advantage.
