Our client is at the forefront of the music industry, representing some of the most iconic and exciting songwriters globally.
 
As a growing business, a newly created key role has arisen for a corporate lawyer with commercial experience to join the legal department and leadership team. Reporting to the CFO, you will handle a diverse range of matters, including investment structures, governance, corporate finance, M&A, as well as commercial and strategic initiatives.
 
Core Role and Responsibilities:
 

• Governance and shareholder reporting in Private Equity portfolio companies
• Handling complicated capital structures and debt lines
• Strategic initiatives involvement, such as product development, regulatory applications, corporate finance, M&A, and strategic partnerships
• Overseeing commercial legal matters, including key contract negotiations
• Providing legal guidance to maximize business KPIs within legislative compliance, company policies, risk management, and data privacy standards
• Collaboration with the management team, board, and shareholders

 
Additional Responsibilities:
 

• Negotiating third-party vendor contracts and liaising with tech and publishing operations teams
• Handling non-music industry-related legal matters, including real estate and litigation
• Supporting the Technology department with legal matters and data protection/privacy structure
• Managing relationships with external legal providers in various jurisdictions
• Overseeing projects related to the EU Directive

 
Candidate Profile:

• Significant PQE (7-10 years+) and in-house experience in entertainment, media, technology, or fintech
• In-depth understanding of investment structures and incentives
• Experience in debt investments, including structuring, reviewing, negotiation, execution, and mobilization
• Familiarity with EU law and international legal entities, particularly in the US
• Understanding of related rights frameworks and an understanding ideally of the music and tech industry environments
