About the team.

Our Corporate Finance team co-ordinate prospective M&A processes, corporate projects and provide regular shareholder analyses.  The team works closely with the Group Strategy and FP&A functions, as well as the wider business, to generate comprehensive analysis on strategic options relating to trading and corporate financing.  The team is responsible for the production of corporate project reports and hosts discussions with a broad range of stakeholders 

About the role.

The role will be wide-ranging and diverse with consistent opportunities to stretch and develop. Regular responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Preparing due diligence reports on potential vendors, including assessing their financial stability, reputation, and compliance with industry regulations 
  • Facilitating visibility of the Group’s historical and forecast performance to external parties through the preparation of detailed reports and analysis 
  • Assisting with the production of the company's financial reporting and analysis, including preparing financial statements, to be presented to senior management 
  • Preparing final drafts of reports and presentations for other external parties 
  • Preparing and maintaining regular analysis including financial metrics and competitive differentiation 
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to support Shareholder requests on corporate projects such as financing and capital structure optionality. This involves explaining business performance and co-ordinating data requests 
  • Assisting in the review and challenge of budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans. 

About you.

  • Qualified accountant or a demonstrable strong background in finance. 
  • Possess gravitas and confidence in discussions with third parties regarding financial results, forecasts, and key assumptions and accounting practices 
  • Technical ability, a strong aptitude for analytical work and attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrable experience in writing reports/presentations. 
  • Commercial acumen to deal with complex issues with experience in evaluating financial performance for sizeable organisations. 
  • Commitment to delivering against demanding expectations and a proven track record of working to tight deadlines under pressure, alongside a high degree of initiative and desire to produce quality on-time deliverables. 
  • Proven successes of developing insightful reporting and analysis to use for major decision making at Exec and Board level.  
  • Able to challenge upwards and cross functionally and welcomes being challenged. 
  • Ability to see the wider picture and can reflect on how The Very Group and specific issues are perceived from an external perspective.
