Corporate Tax Senior

Newstaff Employment Services is recruiting for a Corporate Tax Senior on behalf of our client, based in St Albans, Herts.

It is essential you have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience working within the tax industry.

You will also need to be working towards the CTA qualification (ideally on the individuals and OMB route).

The Role: 

You will be responsible for a set caseload as well as supporting other members of the tax team.

Main duties will revolve around compliance work and will include the following:
o Preparation of self-assessment tax returns for individuals
o Calculating individuals’ tax liabilities and advising payment of tax due under self-assessment
o Preparation of capital gains tax computations and making claims for relief under SEIS, EIS and VCT
o Correspondence (written & verbal) with clients, HMRC and other third parties
o Preparation of partnership and sole trader tax returns
o Monitoring the compliance cycle for personal and corporate clients
o Preparing corporation tax computations and CT600s with capital allowances claims, etc
o Preparation of P11Ds, PSAs, CIS returns and ERS returns
o Assisting managers with ad hoc planning and advisory projects
o Assisting with dealing with HMRC enquiries

 IT Systems used:  Alphatax, CCH Audit Automation and CCH Personal Tax as well as standard packages such as Word and Excel.

Personal Attributes:
o Basic understanding of corporate and personal tax legislation and awareness of applying technical knowledge in practice
o Good organisational skills to ensure they can manage their time and that all deadlines are met
o Flexible team-worker comfortable working with colleagues and senior members of staff
o Able to work for the most part independently and show initiative in dealing with clients’ affairs
o Good computer skills including a sound knowledge of Word & Excel are required
o Excellent communication, both written and verbal
o Aware of the needs to monitor budget constraints and time costs

Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week normal office hours / flexi- time

Salary: £30,000 pa to £45,000 pa + excellent benefits package
