The Department of Health is seeking to appoint 6 x Council Members to thePharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

The Council Member position offers an exceptional opportunity for you to play a key role in helping to shape and drive the delivery of essential health and social care services and to make a positive difference to the lives of people in Northern Ireland.

It is expected that the successful candidate will take up post by October/November 2024.

Eligibility Requirements

The specific eligibility requirements for the PSNI Council positions being sought in this competition are as follows:

Lay Member: Applicants applying as a Lay Member must not be and never have been a registered pharmacist; and must not hold qualifications, which would entitle them to apply for registration under the Pharmacy (Northern Ireland) Order 1976.

Registrant Member: Applicants applying as a Registered Member must demonstrate that they are registered as a pharmaceutical chemist or druggist or are eligible to register and commit to doing so if appointed.

Essential Criteria

All applicants must show on their application form, and if invited for interview, how they meet the following four Essential Criteria:

  • Corporate Governance & Accountability
  • Performance Management
  • Working Together

Time Commitment: Up to 12 days per annum, with some meetings and events held in the evenings. A hybrid approach to Council meetings remains an option.

Remuneration:Council Members are remunerated by an attendance fee. Attendance at meetings up to 4 hours duration attracts a fee of £120 and for meetings over 4 hours £240. Training and induction days attract a fee of £120.

The period of appointment will be for a period not longer than 4 years.
