Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual with a counselling qualification and experience working in the mental health field to join us as a Counselling Social Prescribing Link Worker in the Outer West of Newcastle! In this key role, you will support service users who are experiencing emotional distress or feeling at a crisis point to find solutions to current issues and more effective ways of managing their mental and emotional wellbeing. As a trained counsellor, you will be able to utilise your counselling skills with people who are unable to access this type of support through existing provision in Primary Care.The essential features of the service are empowering people to take control of their health and wellbeing and focusing on ‘what matters to me’. You will create action plans for service users, reviewing these in a way that is most meaningful to the patient. Compliance with the recording requirements in each practice is essential to monitoring the effectiveness of the service. About youWe would love to hear from you if you possess the following:
Worked with people who have enduring & complex mental health issues in a community-based setting
Counselling experience within the last 2 years
Counselling qualification Level 5 Diploma or equivalent.
Good knowledge and awareness surrounding mental health
