You will play an essential role in supporting and/ or leading [depending on knowledge and experience] the Council’s continuing response to the threat of fraud. Reporting to the Counter Fraud Manager, you will work with key clients in supporting them in mitigating the risk of fraud and error through delivering the Counter Fraud proactive and reactive work programme.

You should be self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a positive approach and willingness to contribute towards our excellent reputation for providing respected work. You will need to use and interrogate multiple databases so you should have good IT and data analytical skills. Educated to “A” Level standard or equivalent including 5 GCSEs (A-C/4 - 9) including Mathematics and English Language (or equivalent), you will need experience of completing investigations at a civil and criminal standard or working within an audit/ compliance field, meeting multiple deadlines and managing your own workload, as well as interpreting and understanding complex guidance and data sets. You will also have an awareness of how Local Government at a County and District/ Borough Council Level works and how the wider public sector operate as well as the role of Internal Audit and Counter Fraud.

Kent County Council is committed to supporting remote working where possible, however some travel will be required.  There will be a need to travel to our site offices in Maidstone (Kent Country Council) and Kings Hill (Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council) at least once a week.
