VISION OF THE ROLE:

The role of the Course Manager is to ensure that we deliver the best possible golf standards to our members and visitors. Birchwood Park Golf and Country Club offers an 18 hole Par 71 course as well as a 9 hole Par 28 course. We recently invested £750,000 into improving our Driving Range and the successful Course Manager must manage the quality and presentation of the outfield to ensure it remains the leader in the local market. To motivate and lead the team to achieve the required standard.

SUMMARY OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Management of the Greenkeeping team and Range Ball Picking team. Supported by the General Manager and the BGL Group Course Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Course Management

• To always present the Golf Course, Driving Range outfield and General Grounds in the best possible standards.
• To communicate with the management team and members in relation to course conditions and works being undertaken.
• Maintain all buildings and equipment including the irrigation system.
• To ensure that the Courses continually focus on their sustainability and resource efficiency.

Staff Management

• To lead, train and develop the greenkeeping team as well as the team collecting range balls inline with company policies and procedures.
• To attend Head of Department meetings and communicate effectively with the wider team.
• Recruitment and training of all new employees within your department.

Finance

• Involved in proposing an annual budget and then responsible for managing costs inline with the agreed budget.
• To look after assets to ensure we protect the investments made.

Ideal Candidates should have:

• NVQ level 2 as a minimum, Ideally NVQ level 3
• Experience of managing a Greenkeeping team
• Commitment to continual professional development
• Spraying Certification PA1, PA2 and PA6.
• Irrigation system knowledge and repair skills.
• Ability to maintain a fleet of machinery.

Hours of Work

Due to the seasonality of golf and opening hours there is a requirement for flexibility. Although hours to be agreed locally the typical full-time contracts will follow the guidance below.

• Full time; 40 hours a week including some weekend work
• The role may require additional hours in line with the needs of the business.
