Shoreham Academy is looking for a full-time Cover Supervisor (term time only) to provide supervision of classes to cover teacher absence.
The main purpose of the job is to supervise groups of students during the short-term absence of a teacher. You will ensure pupils carry out a pre-prepared lesson, maintain good order and keep students on task.
The role requires responding to questions and generally assisting students to undertake set activities. The post-holder will be supported to be able to effectively manage student behaviour in the classroom and able to deliver high quality cover. The role also requires some support when not in the classroom in either our Student Services team, working alongside other members of our support staff team or running extra-curricular or catch-up clubs.
This varied and interesting role is often seen as gateway position for moving into other support staff and teaching roles. We particularly welcome applications from candidates who would be willing to run clubs and have a link with the PE Department and other practical subjects that you have an interest in. In addition to the salary and benefits below there are opportunities most days to earn additional pay from covering break/lunch duties.

All new employees will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check with Barred List information prior to working in school. Two satisfactory references are required from all successful applicants, one of which must be the current or most recent employer. Prohibition order checks are undertaken for all newly appointed teachers and support staff who will be engaged in ‘teaching work’.
All new employees will be required to complete a medical questionnaire.
