Job Title:Cover Supervisor
Location: Secondary School in Gillingham, Kent
Contract Type: Flexible work 80 - 100 a day enhanced DBS required
Reports To: Cover Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision of Students:
- Effectively supervise students in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a positive and focused learning environment.
- Classroom Management:
- Manage the classroom environment, maintaining order and discipline in accordance with school policies.
- Implement pre-prepared lesson plans and instructions left by the absent teacher.
- Lesson Delivery:
- Deliver lessons and facilitate learning activities as directed, providing support and clarification to students when needed.
- Student Support:
- Offer assistance to students in understanding and completing assigned tasks, fostering a conducive atmosphere for learning.
- Behavioural Management:
- Implement the school's behaviour management policies consistently, addressing any disruptive behaviour promptly and effectively.
- Attendance and Registration:
- Take registers and monitor student attendance, ensuring accurate records are maintained and reported to the appropriate school authorities.
- Communication:
- Communicate with teaching staff, providing feedback on students' behaviour, progress, and any issues that arise during the cover period.
- Collaborate with other Cover Supervisors and school staff to ensure continuity in student learning.
- Classroom Resources:
- Ensure that classroom resources are utilized appropriately and returned to their designated places after use.
- Report any classroom resource issues or requirements to the appropriate school personnel.
- Emergency Procedures:
- Be familiar with and follow the school's emergency procedures, including evacuation and lockdown protocols.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in training and professional development sessions as required by the school.
- Stay informed about educational best practices and relevant policies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
- Relevant experience working with secondary school students is desirable.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and engage with students effectively.
- Adaptable and able to follow instructions.
- Calm under pressure and able to handle challenging situations.
