Job Title:Cover Supervisor

Location: Secondary School in Gillingham, Kent

Contract Type: Flexible work 80 - 100 a day enhanced DBS required

Reports To: Cover Manager

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervision of Students:
   • Effectively supervise students in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a positive and focused learning environment.
2. Classroom Management:
   • Manage the classroom environment, maintaining order and discipline in accordance with school policies.
   • Implement pre-prepared lesson plans and instructions left by the absent teacher.
3. Lesson Delivery:
   • Deliver lessons and facilitate learning activities as directed, providing support and clarification to students when needed.
4. Student Support:
   • Offer assistance to students in understanding and completing assigned tasks, fostering a conducive atmosphere for learning.
5. Behavioural Management:
   • Implement the school's behaviour management policies consistently, addressing any disruptive behaviour promptly and effectively.
6. Attendance and Registration:
   • Take registers and monitor student attendance, ensuring accurate records are maintained and reported to the appropriate school authorities.
7. Communication:
   • Communicate with teaching staff, providing feedback on students' behaviour, progress, and any issues that arise during the cover period.
   • Collaborate with other Cover Supervisors and school staff to ensure continuity in student learning.
8. Classroom Resources:
   • Ensure that classroom resources are utilized appropriately and returned to their designated places after use.
   • Report any classroom resource issues or requirements to the appropriate school personnel.
9. Emergency Procedures:
   • Be familiar with and follow the school's emergency procedures, including evacuation and lockdown protocols.
10. Professional Development:
    • Participate in training and professional development sessions as required by the school.
    • Stay informed about educational best practices and relevant policies.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
• Relevant experience working with secondary school students is desirable.

Skills and Attributes:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage and engage with students effectively.
• Adaptable and able to follow instructions.
• Calm under pressure and able to handle challenging situations.
