Cover Supervisor - Secondary School

We're currently on the lookout for a confident Cover Supervisor to join our expanding secondary team.

As a Cover Supervisor, your main responsibility will be to oversee classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students stay focused and on track with their learning. Working closely with teaching staff, you'll follow established procedures to maintain order in the classroom and support students in their educational activities.

In this role, you'll:

• Step in for teachers during short-term absences, guiding students through pre-planned lessons across various subjects and age groups.
• Foster a positive and respectful learning environment by effectively managing classroom behavior.
• Offer assistance and answer questions to support students in their learning journey.
• Maintain open communication with teaching colleagues and school administrators to address any concerns or issues that may arise.

Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor:

1. Supervise classes and deliver pre-prepared lessons in the absence of a teacher
2. Ensure that students are engaged, motivated and on task
3. Manage any behaviour issues that may arise
4. Follow school policies and procedures
5. Maintain accurate records of student progress

Requirements of a Cover Supervisor:

• A degree or Level 3 qualification with solid standards of literacy and numeracy
• Experience working or volunteering with children or young people
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to manage behaviour effectively
• A positive attitude and a willingness to learn
• Flexibility and adaptability

Registrations required to be a Cover Supervisor:

• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, but if you do not have one, you can apply for a new one through Educate.
• You must register with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) to work in Wales.
