Job title: Cover Teacher/Supervisor

Location: Smallbrook School, Shrewsbury

Salary: GBP23,500 - GBP25,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 9:00 to 16:30

Due to growth in service, we are recruiting for a Cover Teacher/Supervisor to join our amazing team at Smallbrook School located in Shrewsbury.

Job purpose

To assist the school team in developing a high quality specialist provision for pupils who have a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism. This will be through providing the highest standards of pastoral care for all pupils, of all abilities, in a safe and orderly learning environment. Safeguarding the welfare of the young people in our care will be your primary responsibility. All the duties outlined are carried out under the direction and supervision of the Headteacher or Deputies.

  • Provide cover for teachers that are absent in either the short or long term.
  • Where necessary, assume a small teaching timetable to provide a bespoke package of education either on or off site.
  • Provide support, encouragement and pastoral care to pupils at the school.
  • To share the school's responsibility to support and promote the learning, personal development and well-being of all students.

Qualifications required

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant
  • PGCE or QTLS

Smallbrook School is currently increasing capacity from 50 students to 80 and having a large investment in our school site developing KS2 and sixth form provision. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7-18 with a range of complex needs including a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.

Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.

Our School is based halfway between Shrewsbury and Wem in Shropshire.
