SalaryThe CHIS Controller position falls within the HUMINT department which forms part of the Intelligence Directorate.
The Controller will manage NCA Officers who engage with Covert Human Intelligence Sources (CHIS) to obtain information on behalf of the agency in relation to serious crime. This is a role which deals directly with Officers regularly engaging with individuals who are often part of the criminal fraternity and therefore requires staff to operate in high risk environments. The Controller is part of the HUMINT team collecting and managing sensitive information in support of intelligence and investigation teams.
The Controller should ideally have a good understanding of UK legislation with relevant experience and knowledge of the CHIS environment.
This role is a demanding role, as you may be required to work unsociable hours at short notice; operations may take place in hostile areas and with increased risk. All our officers well-being is supported throughout their career within the agency.
To manage and control all activity of a HUMINT collection team conducting covert source handling operations aimed at obtaining information, intelligence or evidence in support of the National Crime Agency activity targeted against serious and organised crime at both national and international level.
The post holder will be required to be part of an on call 24/7 rota. This may be subject to change and the frequency will be directed by your line manager. If you do perform on-call duties, where eligible, you will be entitled to an On-Call allowance for each session you are on-call (additional remuneration applicable to spot rate roles grades 6-4 and non-spot rate roles grades 6-3).
