Job description

An opportunity is available for a Craftsperson Fitter based at Huthwaite Plant Centre.

In this role you will assemble package sub-stations, metering units and automation equipment. Acceptance testing and protection testing will also be part of your duties. As such you will need to have fundamental electrical knowledge and basic electronic principals understanding. You will be expected to be able to explain the electricity distribution network and have an understanding of the main equipment used within it.

Candidates are required to have Grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level qualification in both subjects. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.

The Ideal CandidateYou will ideally have Fitting experience, however consideration will be given to an appointment, on a designate basis, to applicants who do not possess all the skills required to undertake the role at present, but have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training.

You must be able to work on your own initiative or as part of a small team, making on the spot decisions as required and working to tight deadlines. A flexible attitude is essential as you may be asked to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting its objectives.

If not already attained, the successful candidate will be required to study for Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 qualification and complete TAR – which includes daily diary page completion and a number of tasks and reports as required.

Please note, where job roles involve working at height and the use of Personal Fall Protection Equipment, there are restrictions on the maximum weight of the individual.
